KISS Your Toes This Summer

This is an interesting new product for anyone who might not have time to get a toe-job (ha), or for those of you who have troublesome toenails.  Express On is from Kiss, who has a great line of manicure/pedicure supplies - and these are press-on toenails in a beautiful French Manicure (or pedicure!) color.  I have seen many a troubled toenail in my days - the worst problems had by tennis players.  Man, is tennis hard on your toes!  Bruised, lost, mangled - all these problems can be covered up temporarily with these Express On nails.  They come in two colors - one for warm and one for cool skin tones.

OPI’s Beauty Forecast

OPI is offering this preview of the beauty and nail trends for Fall 2006:

Fall’s beauty color palette is very sophisticated, with shades ranging from warm brick reds, rich browns and sweet toffees, to lighter shades of nature and earth – wheat, sand, cement, gray, moss. Opulent, deep jewel tones of ruby, garnet, amethyst and emerald glow, with nails and lips echoing tones of velvety red, purple, wine, fig and grape. Cheeks are subtle, while hair is softly curled or worn in jeweled chignons. Cool metallics make an appearance.

Be sure and check out OPI’s 25th Anniversary collection of nail colors - as always, the colors are gorgeous and rich and perfect for the fashions of the season!

Avon’s Instant Manicure

Avon INSTANT MANICURE Dry Nail Enamel Strips

I have had my eye out for Avon’s Instant Manicure Dry Nail Enamel Strips, as it is intriguing to me, but I cannot imagine that it actually works. When I say works, I mean is lasting and is pretty. There is a real nuance to applying nail polish that lasts and looks great, and I find it hard to believe that this product is going to cover all of those issues. I have questions:

Do you wear base coat? Top coat? Is is shiny after all of that pressing on it to get it into place? Can you apply top coat?

KOMO News has an article and an accompanying video that asks and attempts to answer the question - Does it work?

Instant Nails gets a thumbs up if your nails fit the strip sizes. Thumbs down for anyone with very wide finger nails. If they want it to work for everyone, Avon has some work to do.

Instant Manicure is sold in sets of 16 strips for $8.00 and comes in ten colors.

Avon says the finish lasts 14 days, and while the strips do dry to a nice hard finish, Rosie told me she found the nail tips chipped about as much as with regular nail polish.

I guess to them it worked, but I am a much tougher critic. I am thinking of giving it a try. Have you tried it?

Nails are the Windows to your Health

Keep an eye on your fingernails like you keep an eye on the rest of your body for signs of bad health. Nails will often show disorders or at least will give you clues before something really bad happens. Look out for these things from Cybernoon.com:

Your fingernails hold clues to your health. Learn to recognize the signs that might indicate a health issue. Some nail conditions are harmless. These include vertical ridges, which may become more pronounced as you age, and white lines or spots. Spots usually result from injury to the nail plate or nail bed. In time the white spots will grow out.
Other nail conditions can indicate disease. For example, yellow or green discoloration in your nails may result from a respiratory condition, such as chronic bronchitis, or from swelling of your hands (lymphedema). Indentations that run across your nails, called Beau’s lines, appear when growth at the area under your cuticle is interrupted. This might occur because of an injury or severe illness, such as a heart attack.
If you have a nail problem that persists or is associated with other signs and symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out. The doctor’s visit typically includes an examination of your nails along with other observations and tests to make a diagnosis.
